An essential fundraising initiative, the Annual Appeal bridges the financial gap between membership dues and the funds needed to support ongoing operations of TNT. While the campaign officially begins during the High Holy Days and runs through the end of the calendar year, contributions are welcome and encouraged year-round. This flexibility ensures that members and congregants can make a meaningful impact at any time, helping sustain TNT’s programs, services, and community activities throughout the year.

Support our TNT clergy by contributing to a discretionary fund, expressing your gratitude for their efforts in creating a welcoming and cherished community. Whether you’ve experienced a particularly memorable event or simply wish to show your appreciation, your donation to the available funds is a wonderful way to express gratitude.

Clergy Discretionary Funds are utilized, with Board of Trustees oversight, to forward the mission of TNT via various community avenues such as camp scholarships, tzedakah for those less fortunate, unbudgeted programs like book talks, speakers, and/or musical performances.

Simcha: A Simcha donation is a heartfelt gesture made to celebrate joyous occasions.  This can include a new job or award, moving into a new home, or significant life events such as a birth, B’nei Mitzvah, recovery from an illness, or successful surgery. At TNT, we warmly welcome all donations made in honor of individuals celebrating their special Simcha moments.

Tree of Life: Commemorate a joyous occasion by purchasing a leaf on the Tree of Life, located in the front hallway. Each leaf is available for $360.

Chesed: The Chesed Committee is dedicated to bringing comfort and care to our community during challenging times. Whether it’s providing meals, support, and companionship to those who are ill, observing Shiva, or offering rides to events or medical appointments, their efforts ensure no member feels alone. Donations to the Chesed Fund help sustain these compassionate services, enabling us to continue supporting one another with kindness and care.

Book of Remembrance: Published annually and distributed at the Yizkor service on Yom Kippur, this book honors the memory of departed loved ones. Yizkor is a memorial service for all those we remember, who have passed away at any point in time. Names of family and friends may be submitted through the High Holy Day Registration form. Donation amounts are at the donor’s discretion.

Memorial Plaque: Honor a loved one with a plaque displayed in the Sanctuary. The individual’s name will be read annually on their yahrzeit and included in the Yom Kippur Book of Remembrance distributed during the Yizkor service on Yom Kippur. Plaques are available for $500.

Prayer Book Dedication: A personalized message is placed in the front of a prayer book to mark a special occasion, honor a loved one, or offer appreciation or remembrance. $36

Yahrzeit Donations: Marking the anniversary of a loved one’s passing with a donation is a meaningful and customary way to honor their memory while supporting the vibrancy of the temple community and its programs.

Leading up to  Hanukkah and at the end of the school year, parents collect funds to show appreciation for our wonderful teaching staff! Feel free to donate any time of year.

Throughout the school year, this TNT initiative is in collaboration with Congregation Shomrei Emunah, Temple Sholom of West Essex, and Bnai Keshet. The program offers innovative teen experiences centered on education, social justice, and community building for 8th to 12th graders. Donations are welcome to help create impactful events such as guest speakers, Broadway trips, and social outings like bowling and axe throwing.

In 2022, TNT began partnering with a group of committed and fiercely independent Jews who founded the first liberal community in Tbilisi, Georgia, Dor L’Dor Progressive Judaism Study Center. Current conflicts along with resistance to first time liberal Judaisim has evoked a need for donations to keep the community safe and protect their rights.

Donations are welcome towards the General Endowment Fund that goes towards the long-term financial health and vitality of the congregation.

Donations towards restricted Endowments are also welcome. These comprise the Weiss Amsterdam Trip Endowment and The Frank Denny RAC Scholarship Fund which both provide trip scholarships, and the Tucker Family Film Festival Endowment.

Experience the power of making a difference by joining our Covenant Circle. This special giving program was designed to help support those in our community who are unable to contribute the full amount of dues in any given fiscal year. This annual commitment allows us to open our doors to any Jewish family or individual who wishes to pray, learn, connect, and do justice together.

Each year, TNT Teens organize the Mitzvah Ride, gathering clothing and tzedakah to support individuals in need in our local community and New York City. Contributions are welcome to help make this meaningful initiative a success. 

Typically occurring around February, the Gala is TNT’s largest fundraising event. Help support the annual operating budget by sponsoring parts of the Gala or placing an ad in the Appreciation Journal. 

Occurring just prior to Purim, all members are provided the opportunity to sponsor Purim bags for others within the community.
