The Chesed Committee’s mission is to provide care and support to our TNT community, especially in times of need. We provide meals to congregants who are ill or recovering from illness, deliver platters to families sitting shiva, visit members who need company, and provide rides to those who need them. We also celebrate joyous occasions, bringing onesies to families with new babies and congratulating members that are celebrating a happy event. Our volunteers are committed to going the extra mile whenever a caring service is required. 

The Communications team manages the primary channels and platforms utilized for engaging with our congregants. Whether you’re keen on updating the website, enthusiastic about social media engagement, or possess ideas to enhance internal communications, consider joining our dynamic Communications Committee! Your input and expertise are valued as we strive to connect and communicate effectively with our community. 

The Development Committee offers an opportunity to contribute to TNT’s operational strength and help secure a robust financial future for the Temple. If you’re passionate about charitable initiatives like the Endowment Fund, the Covenant Circle, or other forms of giving that fortify our Temple’s future, consider joining us. The Finance Committee plays a pivotal role in managing Temple finances, scrutinizing policies and procedures to enhance our financial standing, and collaboratively crafting the annual budget.

Are you passionate about enhancing the Temple’s physical space and surroundings? Join us to collaborate with our office and building staff, contribute to the beautification of our property, and assist in improving the Temple building and grounds. Specific roles in landscaping, providing office equipment expertise, and contributing to “handyman” style building maintenance are some of the areas where your support can truly make a difference.

This committee helps to support our amazing staff in making policy, designing evaluation systems, discussing best HR practices, evaluating benefits packages, and more. If you have a background in HR and want to lend your skill sets, this is the place for you!

Temple Ner Tamid is welcoming to people of all abilities, and is a place where people’s diverse and unique needs are acknowledged and served. Our Inclusion committee, which meets bi-monthly, grew out of a yearlong program made possible through a grant provided by Greater Metrowest’s ABLE. The Synagogue Inclusion Project helped us articulate our goals and energize us into action. We believe that inclusively is possible for ALL of our members and that everyone should have full access to every aspect of their Jewish life. We strive to be honest about who we are and how our practices, traditions, and policies may need to be reevaluated as the landscape of our community’s needs evolve. We invite anyone who would like to continue to work on actionable and meaningful change in the synagogue’s physical building, as well as aspirational hopes in education and temple policies. Look for Special programs for Jewish Disability Awareness and Inclusion Month (JDAIM) in February.

Join us in the vital task of recruiting and integrating new members while ensuring the retention of long-standing ones. Additionally, be a part of forming supportive groups that cater to the diverse needs of Temple Ner Tamid’s members. Your contribution helps create a cohesive and supportive community for all.

Join the Planning Committee and become an integral part of organizing and executing fun events and fundraisers that build community. As a member, you’ll contribute to planning, organizing, promoting, and successfully executing a range of exciting events, including the Welcome Back BBQ, TNT Film Festival, Annual Gala Fundraiser, community-wide Purim basket project, and more. Your creative input and collaborative efforts will help make these events more memorable and enjoyable for our entire community. Join our fun and creative team that brings these engaging events to life!

Do you want your kids to love their Religious school experience? Come join the Religious School Committee to help plan programs, and continue the dynamic process of revision and growth that has already begun.

The Shiva Standby Team’s purpose is to support mourners who may be confused, overwhelmed, or not have any local support to help them through the first few days of their Shiva mourning process. This team aids to alleviate the stress and responsibilities of feeling like a host during the Shiva period for those that are unable or with no local support.

Shoresh Preschool is an important building block in the foundation of our Temple community. Join the Shoresh committee as it works with the director to create exciting programs that enliven Jewish education for our youngest members.

We plan the synagogue’s social action and social justice programs, in particular on behalf of the food and home insecure members of the Essex County community. Our food drives at the Brookdale ShopRite are crucial to the Human Needs Food Pantry clientele, and our participation in the Jewish Federation’s Community Mitzvah Day includes various charitable projects for whole-family participation. We also manage a community garden in Clifton (Fred’s Beds), contribute to the work of Family Promise of Essex County, and share information about social justice work via the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism (RAC). If you’re interested in working with others on social action programs to help “repair the world,” this is the committee for you.

The Teen Leadership Council offers an incredible opportunity for 8th to 12th graders to develop leadership skills while working with peers to create, plan, and lead TNT Teens events. Members collaborate to brainstorm innovative ways to engage peers in Jewish programs and shape the future of youth activities.
